Warren woman says man she met on dating site ran her over



WARREN, Ohio –

A Warren woman told police she was run over by a man she had invited into her home after meeting him on a dating site.

A Canton man was arrested after allegedly hitting a woman with his car at her Warren home.

According to police, officers were dispatched to a home on the 700 blocks of Homewood SE after a caller said a woman was lying in a driveway.

Officers said that when they arrived they saw the 31-year-old victim lying in her driveway face-up behind a green vehicle. 

Authorities informed that she looked to be in a lot of pain and that her legs were extremely red and bruising above her knees.

According to police, medics later told them that they thought she had a fractured femur, a broken hip, and a hyperextended knee.

Police reported that the victim told them she was hit by a car driven by 28-year-old Thomas Aventino.

Officials stated that the victim told them she had met Aventino on a dating site and invited him over to her home.

According to police, while Aventino was in the victims home, and an argument broke out.

Police said that they were informed that Aventino the victim’s son’s tablet against the wall and then continued outside where the argument went on.

At some point during the argument, police said that Aventino got into his silver Pontiac Vibe and backed out of the driveway. Once he was near the curb, he allegedly began to speed forward back up the driveway, toward the victim.

At this point police informed that Aventino struck the victim, pinning her between the front of his car and the rear of the green car that was parked in the driveway of the victims home.

Officers said that the victim was able to get a picture of Aventino’s license plate before he backed out of the driveway and sped away.

According to officers, they located the vehicle with Aventino driving on Front Street at Tod Avenue.

Police said they arrested Aventino on charges on Felonious Assualt.

According to officers, there were many witnesses to the crime.

Aventino is now in the Trumbull County Jail.
