This Morning viewers were left disgusted today after the owner of a dating site, which only caters to beautiful people, said that Ruth Langsford needed ‘full-body’ liposuction.
Co-host and husband Eamonn Holmes didn’t help matters by ‘joking’ that she had “let herself go”.
Greg Hodge, owner of beautifulpeople.com, appeared on the ITV daytime show via videolink with plastic surgeon Dr Li.
They revealed that 85 per cent of applicants are rejected for not being beautiful enough – but now they are offering plastic surgery to rectify that.
Their new feature allows a plastic surgeon to advise what you can have done. Those unsuccessful to be accepted to the site can pay £8 ($10) to receive feedback or £35 ($45) for tailored advice from Dr Li.
Greg first dreamt up the idea after being rejected by the users of his own website.
Explaining the site, he described it as “Darwinism” and that “looks are important”, adding: “We democratise the process.”
Ruth pointed out that looks aren’t everything and Greg agreed that, for women, it was about the whole picture – particularly pointing out that “money” was a large importance.
Clearly annoyed at the sexist remark, Ruth pointedly asked: “Do you think women put money before looks?”
Angry This Morning viewers
Greg said that women liked stability and comfort, which was what came with money.
Eamonn and Ruth were then examined by Dr Li as to what plastic surgery they needed to have done.
First up was Eamonn, who Dr Li said that there were clear signs of aging.
However viewers were more shocked about the comments she made to Ruth, who they said needed “full-body liposuction” and a face lift!
One tweeted: “This woman needs to get real! If I look like Ruth does when I’m her age I will be more than happy. She is beautiful #ThisMorning.”
While another commented: “http://BeautifulPeople.com telling Ruth and Eamonn on #ThisMorning that they need surgery and liposuction. Hold my handbag…”
A third remarked: “This is the most shallow thing I have ever seen. imagine telling people what they need to get done in order to look “beautiful”. disgusted! thismorning ThisMorning.”
Another pointed out: “#ThisMorning this “beautiful dating” website is pathetic. An absolute joke! As a young person with ostomy bag, its difficult enough, & this type of thing promotes the wrong type of attitude. Btw, the two featured for this segment aren’t very attractive whatsoever in my eyes!”
