After alleged rapist lures victim on dating website, date bites his genitals: Police – Crime Online

A Louisiana man is accused of attempting to rape a woman he met on an online dating website—but the reported victim told police she fought back by biting the man’s genitals before hiding behind a table for hours over the weekend.

Authorities arrested John Wesley Patton, 54, of Westwego, on charges of second-degree rape, aggravated sexual battery and false imprisonment, The Times-Picayune reports.

According to a news release obtained by the newspaper, the unidentified 50-year-old victim told police that she agreed to meet the suspect in person after connecting with him on “Plenty of Fish,” a dating website.

Detectives said the two initially agreed to meet Friday at a daiquiri shop in Metairie, but Patton asked the woman to come to his home to meet him and his sister instead.

Agreeing to the new plan, the woman told officials that after she arrived, the suspect told her to walk down a hall where his sister was waiting—except Patton’s purported sibling was nowhere to be found.

Realizing something was amiss, the woman told police she turned to leave, but Patton put his hand over her mouth before pulling her into a bedroom. Patton then “implied that he wanted to have sex,” said Lt. Eric Orlando, spokesman for the Westwego Police Department.

The victim told authorities that she agreed out of fear and begged Patton not to hurt her.

Orlando said when Patton found himself “unable to perform,” he instead asked for oral sex.

The victim told police she subsequently bit Patton’s genitalia and fled from the bedroom without any of her clothing or property in tow.

Unable to escape from the home, which was locked from the inside, the woman told officials she ran to the living room—where she watched as Patton allegedly grabbed a knife from the kitchen. She then proceeded to lunge at the man to try and grab the knife, causing cuts to her hands, police said.

Detectives said the victim barricaded herself in a corner using a table as Patton attempted to strike her with yet another knife.

The woman told authorities that it wasn’t until the next morning that Patton grabbed her belongings before unlocking the door for her to leave. The victim then reportedly left the home in her vehicle and went to a local business, where she dialed 911.

When Westwego police arrived at Patton’s residence, they were unable to contact him, according to the report.

The department’s special response team arrived to assist after officers tried unsuccessfully to reach the man for several hours. Eventually, police reportedly deployed gas into the home and Patton surrendered without further incident.

The suspected rapist is behind bars without bail at the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center.

Further, Orlando said Patton was also booked for a parole violation,. While he was sentenced to 99 years in prison for aggravated possession of cocaine, the convict was released but was to remain on parole until 2092.
